Great News! The North Carolina Department of Transportation has agreed to accelerated the Marvin/Meadowlark/New Town Roundabout project. It is believed that the project will be a two year process. Governor Roy Cooper ordered all North Carolina flags on state facilities to be lowered to half-staff beginning Wednesday, June 14 until further notice in tribute to Cpl. Dillon C. Baldridge. Cpl. Baldridge, of Youngsville, was killed June 10 in Afghanistan.
The Village of Marvin has lowered its flag in tribute to Cpl. Dillon C. Baldridge for his service to our country. May we remember him and his family during this time.

Please take notice that the Marvin Village Council has called for public hearings to be held Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall (10004 New Town Rd.) for the purpose of receiving public comment on the following:
- Proposed Zoning for Voluntary Annexation of Parcels Located in Beechwood, Weddington Chase and Providence Ridge/Willow Oak Subdivision
- Proposed Amendments to the Village of Marvin Zoning Map
- Temporary Use Permit #17-11869 for a Private Fireworks Display for Firethorne Country Club to be held July 4, 2017 from 9:30-10 p.m. at Firethorne Country Club
The Village of Marvin reserves the right to make amendments to the proposed documents based on information received at the public hearing. Citizens are invited to make written and oral comment. All documents are available for inspection by calling the Village Hall at (704) 843-1680. The Village of Marvin does not discriminate on the basis of disability. Please Note: The regular Council meeting on April 25 will begin at Village Hall at 5 p.m. The Council will hold the budget work session and the closed session between 5-6:30 p.m. The Council will then recess the meeting to Banks Fellowship Hall for the remainder of the agenda items.
If you are planning to attend the meeting for any items other than the budget work session, you should plan to go directly to Banks Fellowship Hall at 6:30 p.m. If you are planning to attend the budget work session, you should go to Village Hall at 5 p.m.

Three neighborhood high schools in the Charlotte region made U.S. News & World Report’s list of the 500 best high schools in America, with Marvin Ridge High topping the local rating. Marvin Ridge moved up from 505th place in 2016 to 275th in 2017.
The magazine’s annual report rated more than 22,000 public high schools based on state exam performance, graduation rates and participation and performance on Advanced Placement tests. The top 500 earned gold medal status.
Congratulations to the Administration, Faculty and Students at Marvin Ridge!

The Village of Marvin is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clerk. The Clerk position reports to the Administrator and Village Council. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, as well as strong organizational and leadership skills. He or she must possess a comprehensive knowledge of municipal legislative processes, knowledge of laws related to open meetings, open records and records retention, ability to utilize technology to update various portions of the Village’s websites relative to posting meeting agendas and minutes, and the ability to interpret Statutes and Village ordinances. The successful candidate will also be responsible for duties including, but not limited to, attending and preparing minutes for all meetings of Village Council and Planning Board, preparing agendas and meeting packets, conducting an annual update of the Village’s Codified Ordinances, and other projects as assigned by the Administrator or Village Council. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. The position is full-time with benefits. The salary range is $45,000-$55,000, DOQ. The Village of Marvin invites you to enjoy a movie night under the stars! On Friday, May 5, we will feature the Disney movie “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. The fun begins at 6 p.m., with the movie starting at dusk. The event is free and open to the public.
We are celebrating the Park’s 5 Year Anniversary and hosting a Land Use Plan community meeting at the same time. We’ll have an Anniversary cake and popcorn for the movie!
Plan to arrive early for activities, walk the trails and enjoy the evening. Wear your Star Wars costumes! Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes!
Bring a picnic dinner and don’t forget your blankets, flashlights, bug spray and chairs!
