Gordon J. Suhré Memorial Flagpole Dedication

Posted by Melody Monday, November 16, 2015 1:02:00 PM

The Village is pleased to announce that a flagpole has been placed at the Village Hall in honor and memory of long-time Village volunteer and public servant, Gordon J. Suhré, who passed away this past May.  The flagpole was given by the Epps'  Family to honor Gordon's long-time service as Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, Council Member and general volunteer.

Mayor Suhré was a friend to many and served the Village faithfully, beginning with his charter term as a Council Member  in 1993.  He was first elected as Mayor in 1995 and he served continuously as Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem until 2005.  He was an active force in the original incorporation of the Village and was Mayor during the Village's year-long moratorium, which allowed the Village to develop its strict development code which in turn helped to preserve the Marvin that we currently are proud to call home. He served continuously on the Council until 2005.

The Village will hold a dedication ceremony on Monday, November 23 at 4 p.m. at the Village Hall.  Gordon's wife Linda, son Chris and grand-daughters Carolina and Victoria will attend the ceremony as our special guests as we honor Gordon's memory.
